Barb Jorgensen began using glass as a medium many years ago, initially self-taught through trial and error, extensive reading and much experimentation. She gained a great deal of experience through attending numerous hands-on courses run by other wonderful glass artists willing to pass on their knowledge. While glass was just a hobby for many years, Barb worked as a Lab Technician but now runs her own business in Cowwarr, Gippsland, Victoria. There, she concentrates on fusing and slumping, bead making, and sculptural glass worked in the torch flame. To find inspiration for her work, Barb tends to be drawn to insects, arachnids, plants, ocean life, and birds—occasionally, more fantastical elements may feature in her work, such as fae and alien lifeforms.
