Despite his love and appreciation for art beginning at a young age, John Osborne did not begin his artistic journey until settling in Tasmania in 2007, aged 65. He was introduced to block printing techniques, specifically linocuts, by Geeveston artist Bronwyn Theobald. John became fascinated by the physicality and artistic style of many other printing techniques, including collagraphs, woodblock printing, and lino etching, through which he explores and incorporates the unique flora and fauna of Tasmania. He also enjoys the spontaneity of the Japanese style of gyotaku printing. More recently, John has found himself drawn to story-telling through his art, where he traversed aspects of Tasmanian life both past and present.
