With 30 years of engraving experience, an art form that takes a lifetime to master, challenge remains in every new piece that Margot Thigpen creates. She fabricates illusions with beauty and meaning using only a dentist drill. Each piece takes many hours to complete and is exquisitely unique. Margot finds herself interested in her local environment, being inspired by the oceans and reefs, our pollinators and birds, their changes and challenges, and the influence we have on the environment. Margot wants the viewer to not only look at her work as skilful and beautiful artworks, but to also consider what is slowly changing in their own environments. Margot’s artwork can be found in many places in Australia and the United States.
