A self-described perfectionist, Mel Stanger’s happy place lies in the simplicity of monotone and the detail of the miniscule. Mel’s artworks are highly intricate observations of our natural world and stem from her love and fascination with nature. They invite the viewer to absorb detail that would normally pass them by. Mel draws in pencil at a large scale and often takes in excess of 100 hours to complete a work. Born in Victoria, Mel studied Visual Arts at the University of Ballarat. Mel later studied social entrepreneurship, which has been influential in the way she has set up her business model; every art print that Mel sells supports organisations defending our natural environment. Mel is thrilled to call beautiful Tasmania her home—where inspiration abounds.
